Counselling
Gambling Outreach Support
Gambling support is available to anyone looking for a little or a lot of help with their gambling issues, or the gambling issues of a loved one. We can help navigate what help is available from our program, from online sources and from community organizations.
We are there to give the level of support the participant needs. Whether that is just to offer a piece of information or it is accompanying someone to a voluntary self-exclusion or a meeting they are uncomfortable attending alone.
We are usually the first point of contact for anyone who wants our program's services and will refer people to our clinical counsellors if the person wants those services.
Gambling Support can always be provided with translation services in any language. There are also direct services in Mandarin and Cantonese.
In the Vancouver area, there are 2 Gambling support people, myself and Judy Lee. Judy offers support in Mandarin, Cantonese and English throughout the province.
The area I cover for in person support is Vancouver, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody
You can always access our counselling through myself or Judy. You may want to look at their profiles though to help you decide if you have a preference.
Gambling Prevention and Community Engagement
If you are a teacher, educator, or group leader for any age, our prevention and community engagement team can provide workshops for your group. Community engagement can take many forms. If you have a project that you think might help your community to be a healthier place, connect with the Prevention and Community Engagement contractor in your area.
There is a curriculum available for students in grades K to 12.
There are information sessions for parent groups, ESL classes, college and university classes, community groups, and treatment programs.
Prevention and Community Engagement contractors are happy to attend awareness booths in the community.
Training for community professionals is provided.
Culturally relevant gambling awareness programs are available for Aboriginal, Asian, South Asian and other populations
